Fleawatt TPA3116D2 "GigaHurts" (Sold to Bill I. in Cortland, Ohio)
I bought this used RF High Frequency (gigahertz) shielded in-line amplifier box off Fleabay.
It was re-purposed into an audiophile amplifier. It was primed and painted a very dark textured brown. The fins were enameled copper and the copper pipe & wire accents were added. The photos are dark, but there is a black powder coated, solid brass volume knob on the front. Black machined aluminum spikes adorn the bottom of the amp.
Inside is a TPA3116D2 amplifier board which is good for about 35 watts per channel depending on how much voltage one feeds it.
TPA3110D2 Brass & Mahogany (Sold to Pete W. in Maryland)
TPA3110D2 amplifier IC mounted in a Hammond cast aluminum chassis. Beautiful mahogany veneer and brass accents. Solid brass power switch & brass nameplate. Gold colored isolation spikes and gold plated RCA connectors. The black part of the enclosure is scuffed and distressed on the edges to give it a classic, vintage appearance.
Whippersnapper Amp Follow-Up
The amp arrived today. Thanks for the great packing and quick shipping. i'm listening to it now through a pair of Fried Studio V speakers, and I'm REALLY liking the sound!....I own a yoga studio, and most of our classes are taught to music. I plan to use your amp there, it will be great. It was made locally, relatively speaking, it's adorable and green! I've got a pair of ADS 1290 speakers mounted to a 15 foot brick wall.

6N3 Tube Matisse Preamp Kit (Sold to Colleen in Darnestown, MD)
I purchased this popular Matisse circuit 6N3 tube preamp kit on Ebay to see if it was worth a darn. I'm a sucker for inexpensive kits that have halfway decent user reports on the diy audio forums. Well, this one is definitely worth the price of the admission. I'm certain this might be one of the least expensive tube preamp kits that is dead quiet and adds some tube warmth without completely ruining everything else. Perfect for some tube warmth with the bonus of some extra gain. Make that 1982 Technics, bought at a garage sale, receiver sound like tubes! Green LED's under the tubes add some wicked lighting effects that even Pink Floyd might envy. I added a IEC with built in filtration. Vintage style toggle switch and fuse all in a black powder coated chassis. It's solid and quite heavy with the power transformer inside. I'll sell this for $100 plus shipping. Whippersnapper TPA3110D2 (Sold to Dean in Lowell, Massachussetts)
This little whippersnapper of an amp consists of a Hammond aluminum octagonal enclosure, maple veneer top plate, Sure Electronics TPA3110D2 board, gold plated binding posts, dc connector, Alpha 100K volume pot, gold plated RCA's, sorbothane isolation pads and nylon volume knob. It is about the size of a compact disc. Power is drawn from a 12 Volt external AC/DC power supply. No power switch? Nope, it draws about the same amount of juice as that annoying alarm clock of yours. Leave it on, or if you are really obsessive, unplug it. Its small, simple and.....green? Love it or hate it, it won't be confused with a "made in you know where" TPA3110.
TPA3116 Steampunked (Sold to John in Schertz, Texas)
I have an affinity for Steampunk Art. I came across some cool faux gauges geared toward the Steampunk movement from www.vintagewireandsupply.com.
The chip inside this Hammond aluminum chassis is the TPA 3116 good for about 30 watts per channel. An external Alpha 100K volume pot, gold plated RCA's and five way, gold plated binding posts were used. The finish is a hammered black enamel with solid copper tacks. The power switch and knob are copper enameled aluminum.
Lindsay's Fleawatt Stereo
This is a small desktop stereo I built for my youngest daughter. It uses a Class D 3110
amplifier and Tang Band full range speakers. Connection to the source is through a 1/8" stereo mini plug. The wood box, complete with carry handle, was purchased at Hobby Lobby.
TDA7297 Zebrawood Amplifier (Sold to Louis in Wynnewood, PA)
The TDA7297 is a 15 watt per channel integrated circuit made by ST Electronics. It is a class A/B amplifier and the first I've used from ST Electronics. It has short circuit and overload protection. There is a lengthy thread about this circuit on the diy audio forum with many reports on it's wonderful sonics. I equipped this one with a VALAB 23 step ladder style attenuator (which I love), Wima polyester film input capacitors, Cat 6e plenum grade signal wiring, gold plated RCA connectors, gold plated five way binding posts and a nice Nichicon 2200uf power supply capacitor. The chassis is a Hammond hand brushed aluminum 7" x 7" with a zebra wood veneer on the top. Four machined, gold plated, aluminum isolation cones provide the support on the bottom.
Bottlehead Stereomour 2A3 Amplifier (Sold to Mark in Warren, Ohio)
I recently built this Bottlehead Stereomour 2A3 amplifier kit. Changes from stock are the elimination of the 431 shunt regulators, the addition of an Alps Blue Velvet potentiometer, Audyn Plus coupling/parafeed capacitors and the elimination of the input selector switch in the signal path.
Zenith Model 7-S-363 (Converted for Drew in Oxford, MI)
My best friend asked me if I would convert his non-working 1939 Zenith Model 7-S-363 into a modern stereo that he and his children can enjoy with their iPhone and iPod sources. My pal and I met in Ann Arbor, Michigan for the weekend and he handed over his Zenith to spend a few weeks in the Fleawatt Factory. The old components were gutted and a 12 volt powered 3122 Class D stereo amplifier was installed in the old chassis, along with an extended shaft 100K volume pot and new 12 volt dial lamps. Two audiophile quality Wild Burro Betsy 8" full range drivers were installed on a new speaker baffle board, replacing the 10" Zenith field coil driver. A small toggle switch was installed on the right side of the console and a 6 foot mini plug equipped cable connects to sources. Scratches and scrapes were stained and the finish was given a cleaning. The dial glass gasket had completely dried out and crumbled. A new one was ordered and installed. We decided not to replace the broken selector buttons as that would have added major cost to the project with no functional value. How does it sound? Great! It puts out some serious sound and can fill a house with music.
Nelson Pass Amp Camp Amps (Sold)
I recently built this pair of 5 watt, pure class A mosfet output mono blocks designed by the master, Nelson Pass. The "Amp Camp" amp kit is available from the DIYAUDIO webstore. The enclosures are made in Italy and the parts quality is very good. Dale resistors, a solid circuit board, etc. The sound is typical low watt Class A Nelson Pass. Several users who own the First Watt F5 report these mono blocks sound very similar. I thought they sounded great, but preferred the sound of the TPA3116 amps.

Fleawatt Walnut & Birch 10 watt amplifier
The enclosure of this amplifier was made from solid walnut and baltic birch ply. A vintage new old stock Simpson DC panel meter indicates the direct current to the amplifier. An Alps blue velvet volume pot is combined with a vintage faux bakelite knob. This amplifier is rated at 10 watts per channel when using a 12 volt power supply. Nichicon fine gold output filter capacitors and Bourn's low loss toroidal 220mh output filter chokes due the output filtration. Panasonic FC are used for the power filter capacitors. High quality Dale resistors are used throughout the circuit.
Telefunken Open Back Studio Monitors
These open backed speaker cabinets are mated with Telefunken branded Isophon 6"x 9"
full range drivers and Foster horn loaded tweeters. A 2 ohm Mills resistor and .22uf paper in oil Russian capacitor does the crossover duties. The cabinets are 1/2" Baltic Birch coated with General Finishes Brand gloss water based polyurethane. Stands are 24".
TPA3122 Class D Amplifier
This amplifier uses a Texas Instruments TPA3122 IC mounted on a Jerry Electronics printed circuit board. The power supply capacitors are Nichicon Muse 1000uf. The output filter capacitors are Panasonic FC 470uf. Speaker connections and RCA inputs are mounted on the circuit board. A 10K volume pot is also board mounted for the ultimate in signal purity.
